**The advice dispensed by myself in reference to FML postings is not meant to supplant the advice of veterinarians who are in charge of the patient. If the patient is not currently under the care of a veterinarian, the client is recommended to take their ferret to one.** >From: Anonymous Poster <[log in to unmask]> >Subject: HELP- sick ferret >The vet thinks she has insulinoma.... Give this to your vet: Start with steroids. I use Pediapred (1 mg/ml) and I dose the ferrets 1/2 - 1 mg/lb of body weight. If no success, consider Proglycem (dose: 5 mg/lb divided into BID PO). Micrometastases of the insulinoma makes surgical removal a poor (but sometimes successful) option of solitary tumors. Mike Dutton, DVM, DABVP Weare Animal Hospital Weare, NH [Posted in FML issue 1688]
