I'm looking for other ferrets who would like to volunteer for a VERY IMPORTANT study. Some control subjects should also volunteer so we can be objective here. Gee, Mo. Bob, too bad you're not still here to conduct this virtual scientific study! Here's what happened. Our Burnie seems to have some residual material on the exterior of his person from his descent operation. It's about a qtr. in. from his pooer. 'Bout the size of a grain of uncooked rice, & sort of im- bedded in him. His vet is concerned there may be some internal infection, & is giving him oral "stuff", and recommended hot compresses three times a day. Yeah right! Fast forward Burnie, sitting on a hot wash cloth for 10 minutes, 3 times a day. Sure! But, since Burnie likes his bath, I put a small amount of hot water in a pan, and plopped his rear into it. While I'm transferring him from the cage or floor to this pan, he is Mr. Squirm. The moment he's sitting in the water, it's like someone turned him to "off". So --- how would some of you super charged, "don't even THINK of trying to hold me" ferrets like to partake in our little experment? Here's all you do. Get a ferret, get a plastic pan of very hot water, and combine the two! See what happens. Burnie sits in the pan, supported by my hands, and does NOTHING. Well, mostly nothing, he will lick water off my hands, or off his hind leg. The water is hot enough that if he actually tries to lick it from the pan he expells it. When I take him out, the moment he free of the water, it back to being "Fast Forward Burnie". Any volunteers? Georgia [Posted in FML issue 1684]
