I have a couple of questions about the early vaccinations for kits. I read in the FAQ that Kits should get 3 shots 4 weeks apart OR 4 shots 3 weeks apart for distemper. My question is, Is the strength of the vaccinations different if you get the 4 shots instead of 3? If there is no difference in the vaccine, then why couldn't you do 3 shots 3 weeks apart? AND What would be the reason for the extra 4th shot? Part of my reason for asking is that it seems like I am going to be moving to the dreaded ferret outlawed land (CA) and I want to get my new kit all her shots before I go. She is currently 7 weeks and has had her first shots (at Marshall Farms), but I am moving to California September 30th. Of course if anyone out there knows a good vet who won't turn me in (near Los Angeles) then that solves my time problem. And my future problem of regular vet visits. I am going to be driving to CA in order to bring my little fuzzys with me and I know once I saw a request for the locations of the border patrol on the FML. I never saw the answer and would like to know which roads to take avoid them. If anyone knows please post it on the list or call me (212) 841-3093 (collect is fine, 10:30 - 5:00 NY time). My e-mail is irregular so its not the best way to reach me. Thanks for all your help. Rebecca, Jitterbug and Monkey. P.S. By the way just out of curiosity, what is virus shedding? I keep hearing about it, but I don't know what it means. [Posted in FML issue 1662]
