Yea, well, I'm a little behind.
My genetics is pretty skimpy too, but it seems logical to assume that for a
white animal, deafness is the least of its problems.  Anything you're trying
to eat can see you coming, and so can anything trying to eat you.  Unless
you live year-round in snow, being white is not a great survival trait, as
you will probably not survive long enough to breed anyway, otherwise healthy
or not.  BTW, Monster is (as near as the vet and I can determine) totally
deaf.  She does react to vibration (trains when we're in the part, etc).
She's almost totally white.  Well, off-white-ish, depending on when her last
bath was.<G>
