On a serious note:
 
Debbie: I was shocked to read about the destruction of your ferret.  I worry
about this kind of thing happening a lot, because one of my ferrets is a
biter.  For that very reason, I'm the only person I allow near Scooter.
It's another example of something that was blown totally out of proportion,
probably by a hysterical parent, because of the ignorance and misconceptions
surrounding ferrets.  Had it been a cat or a dog, it's pretty likely nothing
more would have been said.  The whole thing makes my blood boil every time I
hear about a ferret being put down for rabies testing.
