Howdy to everyone. I have gotten a bit behind in my mail, due to the above topic. We have a new baby, or more exectly, 2. Let me explain. First of all, you should never visit a friend that has new litters of kits, unless you already have decided you need another ferret. This was the mistake I made 4 weeks ago. Of course, before I left, one of them had stolen my heart. After thinking it over for a week, I called her and said that I wanted him. So, I knew I was going to get a beautiful little silver mitt boy as soon as he was old enough. However, on the appointed day when I went to pick him up I somehow managed to come home with 2. His little sister, a tiny albino, ended up a stow away in the carrier. Well, not quite. I knew she was there. I have never been partial to albinos, but she was so little and cute. (She was the runt of the litter.) Since I knew I was going to get the little boy, I had already been thinking of a name, but his sister was not planned for, so she has been 'little girl' or 'little one' all week. I think we have solved that, though. He is Mosbey, and she is Jasmine, or Jazzy, for short. So, now I have 7 ferrets. Since I am kind of new to the FML, let me introduce my older kids as well. Midget is our oldest, at 7 1/2. Her full name is Smidgen of Spice. In her youth she was a beautiful little cinnamon panda. Now, she is all white except for her tail, which is brown. In her old age, she has decided that she doesn't like other ferrets, preferring to associate only with humans. Sassy is the queen of the house. She is a 2 year old blaze. When she first came to live with us, she had been traumatized by some large agressive hobbs, but in no time she took over our house. She gets along well with other ferrets, as long as they understand she is queen, and therefore must get more attention from everyone. Her most loyal admirer is Buster, a 2 year old sable male. Buster is about the nicest ferret you could ever hope to meet. He gets along with everyone, is very gentle, and would do anything in the world for his beloved Sassy. Finally we have 'the Boys'. They are 10 month old brothers that create total chaos where ever they go. The older boy is ET, a cinnamon. His younger brother is Herschel von Seidig, or Hershey, everyone's favorite chocolate boy. In the first 2 months they were here, they managed to break both the table lamps in my living room. Oh well, I wanted some new lamps there anyway. Oh, did I mention these 2 way about 5 pounds each. They aren't fat, just big. They are 1/4 German. So, that is my crew. So far the lillte ones are getting along with everyone ok. I have not introduced them to 'the boys' yet. 'The boys' are too big and rough. I'm afraid they would hurt Jasmine without meaning to. One thing that has been very amusing - Midget will go up to Mosbey to sniff him, and if he turns around toward her or tries to initiate play, she will grab him by the back of the neck to dominate him. However, because she is afraid, she will also start screeching at him. When she screeches, he runs away. So, Midget chases Mosbey around the house screeching. Poor Mosbey doesn't understand what is wrong with that mean old white ferret. Well, I think I have gone on long enough, so dooks to everyone. Danee DeVore [log in to unmask] [Posted in FML issue 1638]
