Hi - I live in St. Paul and own two ferrets. When I moved here I applied for a permit from the city to keep my ferrets because I figured it was better to play it safe. I have had the permit for 2 years and I just turned in my form for renewal. I received a phone call the other day from the office of Licenses and Inspections and they want to inspect my apartment before they renew my permit! The rules I have to abide by are "take precautions to prevent the animals from biting anyone" and remove fecal matter at least once a week. I don't understand why the city isn't as concerned about dog owners following these rules but that's another story. Anyway the inspector made an appointment with us and we left work to let this guy in. He never showed and so we left a message telling him that he would have to reschedule at our convenience. We haven't heard anything from him. Has anybody else dealt with these people? Thanks! Kristin Kramer [Posted in FML issue 1636]
