Re George, who will need to have one eye removed.
 
My cat Pepper injured his eye when he was about 14 yrs old.  It was treated
with antibiotics and ointment, and got better.  But over the next year, he
had recurring problems with it, and finally the vet recommended removal.  He
said Pepper probably hadn't been able to see out that eye for some time
anyway.
 
After recoving from surgery, Pepper was like a different cat.  He was much
more active and kittenish.  I hadn't realized how much the eye had been
bothering him.  He lived until the age of almost 18.

I'm sure George will be just fine. We've read of many blind ferrets on the
list who are happy and active.
