We posted some time ago about one of our ferrets not getting along with the others -- how he bullied, chomped down, dragged, and basically terrorized the other fuzzies, though he was really sweet with people. Well, we finally decided that it just wasn't working (after a month of mournfully watching him bamboozle other ferrets, and leave little bitemarks on our toes when he was really excited.) and scouted around to look for a better home for him. After interviewing several prospective-ferret-owner-friends, we decided to let Kirslen, who is one of the ferret folks at our local (and very good petstore), take him home for a trial period. Kirslen owns Koogel, an albino male, who, like Wookie, was neutered at a similarly late age and is equally as huge, who spends much of the time being spoiled rotten (in a good way), or being the Ferret Representative for people who don't know about ferrets. Koogel, interestingly enough, bamboozled ("beat the heck out of", says Kirslen) smaller ferrets that he met, but was equally sweet with people. We were worried that it would be a sequel to "Clash of the Titans", since they're both enormous with enormous canines, and neither have really met their match before. It turned out to be a love match. They dooked and played with each other within minutes of meeting each other, and slept together in Koogel's bed-couch. I guess they both went, "Wow! I have a twin brother!" The trial period isn't up yet, but it looks like Wookie has a new home that is perfect for him. We didn't feel it was fair to always keep him separated from the others and have no one to play with, but it was equally unfair for the others, who are very scared of him, and so we decided to adopt him out. Sometimes sad events turn out to be really good ones, eh? Martin and Anna G. Ralya [Posted in FML issue 1539]
