This is one very good reason why kits should stay with their mothers longer.... Prolapsed rectums can happen from being weaned too soon - baby ferrets should be naturally weaned around 6 weeks of age - not in a pet store at that age. Judi Bell says they aren't ready for solid food at 3 and 4 wks of age. You might want to try using some plain ordinary chicken baby food (use the Beachnut rather than Gerber's - Gerber's has added celery powder and onion extract - Beechnut is just plain ol' chicken and broth) - and pulverize the Totally Ferret, MFF, mix it with the baby food, warm it up, and feed it that way. Feed small frequent amounts - remember, babies have VERY small tummies. Of course, these problems can also stem from the descenting procedure, but you'll want to make it easy on the baby so he doesn't strain when passing stool. This may help.
