There is an inaccurate message being posted that ferrets are legal in CA..... NOT..... Please see my response below. I assure everyone, When they become legal, Pat, myself, and LOS CA will tell the world........ If you see anything posted that says they are legal..... and it is not validated by one of the official organizations please contact us before passing it on. It risks the lives of ferrets in CA to post it without making sure of its authenticity...... Thanks for understanding...... CDFA1 I can't believe this post. It is WRONG, ferrets are still not legal in any way in CA. Some radio station made the announcement and it will cause more trouble than we can shake a stick at..... Please...... if you hear someone say they are now legal, unless they have CDFA, Ferrets Anonymous, or Legion of Superferrets CA attached to the name or announcement, DO NOT pass it on until you have verified it with one of us. This could result in the needless confiscation of ferrets that were previously safely kept underground. I promise you, WHEN ferrets become legal in CA I will personally post it for the whole world to see. No one wants it more or works harder for it then we do.... Please remember...... FERRRETS ARE NOT LEGAL IN CA>>>>>>>>> CDFA1 Subj: False report of ferret legalization in CA Date: 96-03-13 12:43:40 EST From: CDFALegDir Hello everyone, In case you get any calls on this, I've received quite a few already, KYCY in Corcord Ca reported on the radio this morning that ferrets are now legal to import into California. THIS IS NOT TRUE! I called my local Captian of DFG, Tom Belt, and he said he didn't know anything about it. He called the Fish and Game Commission and was told that, no, they still have to produce the docuemnt and that the issue wouldn't even come up again until the documents were completed. I called Jan Goldsmith's office thinking that perhaps the introduction of the resolution might have triggered this confusion. No, the resolution has not been introduced yet (I knew that they were looking at perhaps 10 days to two weeks away but thought the way things change up there maybe it had been introduced and had already gotten some press). In order to squelch rumors, if you get requests for information, please tell folks that ferrets are still prohibited in California. Thanks, Jeanne [Posted in FML issue 1508]
