I truly believe that no one who loves their fuzzies enough to subscribe to the FML would intentionally neglect their little friends. But my heart breaks to hear stories of sick ferrets who have not been taken to the vet soon enough. Ferret Illness Rule: You Can Never Be Too Careful With the Fuzzy You Love!! Go to the Vet!! I will admit I'm not all that good about getting *myself* to a doctor, but when my ferrets or my cats or my daughter have any problem I can't identify as harmless, I'm off to see an expert. I have never regretted going. It's worth the fee to hear that it's just a (whatever) and will take care of itself, because then I can stop worrying. Sometimes I have been *so* glad I went . . . like when my daughter turned out to have atypical appendicitis symptoms and was rushed to surgery . . . or when Sabine the Bean had an obstruction (a string off the string mop). I have been fortunate to find a great ferret vet in Drexel Hill, PA, plus a great all night emergency service where they know ferrets. Anyone in Delaware County and other suburbs west of Philadelphia is welcome to e-mail me for a recommendation. Judith White [Posted in FML issue 1491]
