Rick, There are feral relative of the domestic ferret - usually very heavily diluted with polecats - in England and New Zealand. these are not really pet ferrets anymore but fitch. The American continent only has the endangered Black-footed ferret living on its own as wild. Believe me, these are not feral ferrets. I've been looking for the James McKay book - it is written by an Englishman who knows ferreting and very little about the American ferret. Someone copied pages 18-20 for me and the material he used is very outdated. I don't have a publication date, so I don't know how outdated. But I want the book because - 1 - I have about every book on ferrets that there is, and - 2 - I would be interested in learning more about how the English keep ferrets. Pam [Posted in FML issue 1441]
