I've heard of 2 cases that were not distemper but had some of the symptoms.
One case was an obstruction and the rash around the mouth was caused by the
"special feeding". The other which almost caused the ferret to be
euthenized because of the symptoms, but thankfully the tests were negative
and our wonderful vet kept searching for what was wrong, was a worm in the
nose. Dr. Snyder was able to remove it without surgery, just grab and
pull, and viola! the ferret was all better. There is a test to see if it
is distemper. Oh, if you'd like to talk to Dr. Snyder about the parasite
his telephone number is (913) 233-3185 (Topeka KS).

Warm and healing wishes to all ill ferrets. Hugs to all. tle
