My name is Erci Nolan. I have two wonderful ferrets, Newt and Spice. Both are happy and healthy except for one problem each, that my vet is having trouble diagnosing. Newt, a large silver mitt, has no hair on her tail and scaly skin where the hair used to be. My vet suspected an adreanal(sp?) gland problem, but I have seen no other signs that he told me to watch for. Newt occasionall chews on her tail, but otherwise doesn't seem to notice. Spice, a small sable, is alos having tail fur problems but they are different. Her tail is covered in little black spots where the folicles should be. It is not bumpy, no acne, and the hair seems to come back in spots and then falls out again. This condition started a while ago in each of then, but well after they reached adulthood. Any thoughts or suggestions. You can post here or privately, I don't care. I just want to turn my rats back into ferrets.
