to: "K. Sherman" <> Subject: Question regarding false pregnancies >My question is: How do you tell the difference between a real pregnancy and >a false one? I was told that you cannot test for pregnancy in ferrets and >that a physical exam would not prove or disprove pregnancy except 24 hours >prior to birth.... False Preggers look like real ones, except after 6 weeks, the ferret does not look pregnant anymore. If the vet can not feel babies, and she has been large for over 4 weeks, then she is FAT and needs to have a full physical to determine that she is not full of cancer or something else.
