>He yawned 5 or 6 times while pretending to look at something on the wall. >He was NOT tired. Is this ferretese for "OK, OK, I get it already" I find that my dog has a similar yawning response which means something like "Yeah, all right, I don't agree with you but I'll do it anyway." Hi Anna--re: large puppies and ferrets My shepherd mix (80#) steps on the ferrets and I think if you have an older or sick ferret it might harm them. But I think what's more important is the dog's temperament. My dog was introduced to my first ferret when he was a puppy so they played together (which involved dog stepping on ferret, ferret clamping onto the dog's cheek.) As near as I can tell, they both enjoyed it. However, the same ferret was almost killed by a neighbor's dog (also a shepherd mix, so I don't think you can tell anything by the breed). Some dogs can kill small animals, others are very good with them. Also, as my dog gets older, he enjoys playing with the ferrets less, and doesn't like them around if he is trying to sleep or eat. I think it's good that your dogs are young and playful, but I would definitely supervise them and make sure neither dog nor ferret is being too rough on the other. Good luck! :-) --Ronnie [Posted in FML issue 1367]
