Hi everyone. We've had Tinky for two weeks now and he is amazing. Reading everyone's postings I'm wondering if Tinky is 'normal'. First, he does have two little 'dot' tatoos, so I'm assuming he is from Marshall Farms, and not knowing the ages of the kits they ship out, I'm also assuming that he is around two months old maximum. Anyway, in two weeks he has grown FOUR inches, and his feet have almost doubled in size. He does have his 'accidents', but they are ALWAYS in the same place, so it's no major problem. He does bite a little, but I'm thinking it must be, in part, because he is still teething. Two days ago, he learned that he can dig in potted plants, but then again, just like his pooping accidents, he only digs in one pot! I got so tickled the first day I saw him digging that I asked my SO if he thought Tinky had read the Ferret FAQ! Anyway, that is about the negatives with Tinky. On the other hand the possitives are incredible. His cage is now ALWAYS open. He sleeps with us, well, after spending about ten minutes to settle down. He is funny to watch because sometimes he will just go into his cage to eat and drink and then just stay in there for a nap. This morning he had gone to 'poop', and when he looked up to see me watching, he came running over to play; stopped, looked back, looked at me, then went back to 'poop'. If, for some reason, he is sleeping in his cage in the morning when I go for my first cup of coffee, he sees me coming and, bingo, he's right there with me. He is still too small to get on the bed by himself, and a little uncomfortable getting off, but since a folded blanket is usually by the bed, he has learned that he can use it as a 'ladder'. One day, I took the blanket away and he was so cute to watch as he went all over the bed looking for his 'ladder'. As soon as I put it back, hop hop, he was down. Another thing he loves is napping on, well IN the bed. He loves to burrow under the blankets. One day, had burrowed and couldn't find his way out, so I started talking to him and giving him directions. I couldn't believe it, when I told him to go right, he would, and left he would. I got tickled and had him going all over the bed until I finally told him how to get out! He promptly, plopped out! Tinky, without a doubt is the most affectionate pet i've ever had, and my cats from the past were VERY affectionate. He is always with one or the other of us, playing, wanting to play or, most often, just curled up with us. One day, he was playing, getting under the entertainment center, when some motion on the TV caught his attention....he now watches TV regularly. One last thing, it's as if he never forgets anything! Well, to be sure, I in heaven with my ferret! Paul, John, and Tinky [Posted in FML issue 1389]
