To Dave: >It would seem Rune, my 12 week old fell yet again from the third >tier of their cage, this time however, she seems to have injured herself >and unfortunately my regular vet was not in and the other guy was a >complete jerk. When it happened, I looked at her right front leg which she >was unable to use... Later on she seems to have >gotten some feeling back >... but that it was probably neurological. Dave - it does sound like some nerve injury. Hopefully, an X-ray was taken to make sure there is no fracture. Actually, ferrets seem to have good regenerative properties, much more than I have seen in dogs and cats. As long as they have deep pain in the leg - meaning if you squeeeze the toe they try to pull it away, they often will recover very nicely. Don't take it as a guarantee of a return to full function, but she should do fine. ccc However, the more she rests, the faster it will regenerate. My prescription - strict cage rest for a week, and a gradual return to action. No running hell bent for leather for a while.
