I was going to send this directly to Ms. Mooring, but the topic has been bounced around enough by the FMLers that it seems pertinent. Linda, you wrote: (1345 -- found a ferret in CA) <...we discovered with our late ferret that leaving ferret urine on hardwood for more than 24 hours can do incredible damage to the finish!> I detect from your tone that you're not really interested in another ferret right now regardless of the type of floor you're standing on. But, in case I'm mistaken, I wanted to inform you that there are several floor sealing products available that are impervious to almost all liquids -- ferret pee included. Flecto makes a half dozen polyurethane based sealers that are dern near bulletproof, and Dow Corning just came out with an epoxy-like stuff that's got a lifetime guarantee. The cost to have your floor professionally sanded and refinished should be about $1.25-1.50 per square foot. Look in your Yellow Pages under "floor laying"; you'll find plenty of outfits that'll give you a free estimate. If they're good, they'll even get out the old stains. Swampp [Posted in FML issue 1347]
