Re: Ferrets, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme <about using natural deoderizers in/under the cage> I think there's a song in there some place! ;) Is rosemary, thyme, etc. toxic to ferrets? Well, I really don't know for sure. I would probably guess not, but the key thing with *any* herb is moderation - for fuzzies and people alike. If your fuzzies are going to mostly ignore the herbs, I would say they would probably be fine to use, but if they think the herbs are the greatest thing to eat since sliced bread you're going to want to keep the herbs out of their reach. Herbs, even many of the culinary ones, were some of the first medicines to be used and so some have potent "active ingredients." If you use a little common sense, I wouldn't expect there to be any problems. What works better for deoderizing is washing their bedding often, cleaning the cage and litter boxes often, and opening the windows. Maybe you could use your own herbs and make some potpurri for scenting the rooms. Re: Catnip Nixon's Dad wants to know if catnip works on ferrets. Nope. It's a cat-thing only. Egads! I can't imagine what a "ferretnip" would make them act like! %) Re: Manuel and the 3 Amigos I hope that you and your 3 little fuzzies weren't effected by the earthquake at all other than having it shake your bedroom! From the reports I saw this morning, it looked like it was a bad one. As far as your three kids walking around on you maybe trying to wake you up just before/during the earthquake, it is possible that they knew in advance. Scientists have said that many animals "sense" earthquakes and storms before they hit. Animals are much more in tune to the earth than we are and they notice the subtle signals and changes that we don't. -kim, mike, squirt (proud of his new winter coat), pippi (getting her coat in as well), atlas (the thundering 5+ pounder), and Hijinx (becoming my little lovey girl) Kimberly Burkard | _ Everything I needed to know in life, I Eastman Kodak Company| _____C .._. learned from my ferret: Rochester, New York | ____/ \___/ Frolic and dance for joy often, have [log in to unmask]<____/\_---\_\ no fear or worries, and enjoy life.
