Niki and Jimi, The large round greyish spot you see on Jimi may not be a problem. It's not uncommon for ferrets to have areas of pigmented skin on their body. Its usually not a concern if the area is not raised off the surface of the skin, the ferret is not scratching or biting at the area, and if the area does not bleed. Other problems on the skin that could look like this (when it irritates the ferret or bleeds) are mast cell tumors, flea allergies, skin infections. Most vets can usually tell which it is more likely to be by looking at it. Good Luck Dr Weiss [log in to unmask] 301-299-4142 [Posted in FML issue 1321]
