Clarifying some points misunderstood.

Cedar and Pine shavings are what is not recommended for ferrets. Aspen
shavings are fine but messy for a 'home' and used more by breeders.

Pine Fresh is made of compressed wood chips - more like large grain
sawdust. The woodstove pellet fuel is hardwood chips compressed and used
for heating and be enlightened high volume ferret poop possessors.

The shavings seem to have added oils which are what causes the problems.
The compressed pellets do not and do not seem to have the side effects.
The Woodstove peelets are not coniferous and don't have the oils at all.

When used as litter the compressed chip pellets absirb the moisture -
hopefully much of the odor with it. THe pellets disintergrate into the
chips and are replaced when they are completely disintergrated.

Ellen Byrne doesn't use the nasty shavings, she uses the pellets as do we.
