Hi FML- I would like to enter one of my ferrets in a ferret show coming up, and I need some advice regarding doing so. I read Bill Killian and Pam Grant's recent posts about showing ferrets (Thanks you two!) but I have a couple more questions. I will probably be entering Maggie in the pet quality class as I am not sure if she would be eligible for the "show quality" ring. I think Bill mentioned needing proof of vaccines, do I also need to prove that the distemper shot was Fervac- D in addition to proving that she has had the 3 shot set? Do I need some kind of verification that Imrab-3 was given in addition to proving that she has had the shot? And is a three booster set for distemper acceptable? I have seen a lot of people giving four shots. I asked my vet about it and he said that he thought a set of three would be fine. The show that I am thinking of attending is AFA sanctioned. I would appreciate someone familiar with their standards for the pet class e-mailing me with info. And if there is anything else important a first timer showing her ferret needs to know, please throw that in too :0). Thanks a lot!! Laura Maggie "The Showgirl" <G> Gatsby The Tomboy Ferret (ah, who wants to do all that yucky stuff anyway? I'd rather stay home and sneak the Ferretone...) P.S. Ferret love strikes again!! While we were out getting a bigger cage for the girls today, we saw three six month old MF boys in a cage marked Sale--$80.00. I had been thinking about getting another, maybe a silver mitt female. When Scott asked the guy about him, he said that they were trying to sell them, but no one was taking because they were full grown. Then he told us that he could let us have one (Unfortunately, much more of our money than we'd like goes to this pet store <G>) for $50. Well, I took a good hard look at them (Two sables and an albino) and I decided that we could take one. The girls are sable and siamese, so I thought the albino would be the best choice. So now we've got a 70's sitcom thing happening in the new cage, but unfortunately we can't come up with a name for the new guy. For now we are calling him Marshmallow, but would greatly appreciate any suggestions. You all did such a good job with the names for Sheena's big ribbed guy--am I asking too much for a repeat performance? <g> [Posted in FML issue 1329]
