Hi all, While getting ready for a party Saturday, Snookie was sleeping under a blanket on the livingroom floor. Guy wanted to go to the kitchen and, thinking that Snookie was in another part of the house, stepped on the blanket, and on her! I was getting out of the shower and he yelled to me that he had stepped on her (he was also wearing his tennis shoes). He had pulled back the blanket to check on her because he had no idea as to what part of her body he had stepped on. She was in a "speed bump" position, which is the position she will sometimes sleep in when on the floor. He was patting her head but she wasn't moving. He thought he had paralyzed her! I came over and looked at her. I rubbed her head and she jumped up and started going about her usual business of exploring! Guy almost fainted! We made an emergency call to the vet to see if we needed to x-ray. The vet said that we *could* x-ray if we wanted but said that sometimes, if there will be any internal bleeding, that it wouldn't show up until later (sometimes) and that an x-ray might not show anything at that moment. She the gave me signs to look for: pale gums, indicating shock labored breathing trouble urinating We agreed to watch her for a while. When the party started, we put her in her room and she went to sleep. I checked on her almost every hour and everything seemed fine. Today, Monday, everything *still* seems fine. I've even checked her stool to see if it was discolored in any way... it's not. :-) I wanted to ask everyone if the vet gave us good advise. Also, I wanted to know if we should still take her in anyway and have her checked out. As I've said, I have noticed no negative signs...she's even playing and eating and she's not walking like any part of her body hurts. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. -Mark Z. (and Guy who, almost 30 minutes before 60 to 70 people were supposed to show up for a two-keg party, almost had to be taken to the hospital for a stopped heart!) [Posted in FML issue 1271]
