I'm cringing reading about all these poor guys getting stuck, eeek!  Goose is
the only male we've had and is neutered, and our cage has plastic at the
openings, so this hasn't been a problem...thank God!!  The plastic is
definitely a good idea, as is the tile, etc., but another solution may be to
leave only the bottom door of the cage open, that way their feet will be on
the ground and they can back up, if I understand the problem correctly.  I
usually lift our guys out from the top floor, especially Goose because he's
older and kinda lazy at wake-up time ;)  I'd reccommend this as an *addition*
to putting plastic around the door-frame, BTW.  OUCH!  I hope I never have
to hear a ferret scream like that....
