Dear Meg; Here's Timmy's story, as requested, with a CC to the FML for newer people that have not heard about it. Following it is the latest of his recipes. >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Timmys' story: Well hello; I've been reading the news letters for a couple of weeks now, and thought I might submit my efforts to so far successfully help my Timmy survive what in early Nov., 1994 was diagnosed by Dr. Brown in Ill. as lymphoma. Timmy was getting lethargic & not eating when I was in Indiana, & a vet there thought it was a blockage so we went thru a week of Ferretone & baby Fleet enema twice a day. He started nibbling dry food then stopped. I was going to visit friends in Ill anyway so I Saw Dr. Susan Brown the expert who took an Xray & thought she saw a blockage like a piece of phone cord (he had bitten clear thru one twice), & convinced me to operate. Once inside she felt the stomach was OK, but the lymph nodes were 10x normal size. She did a lab sample & said it looked like lymphoma. My the time I got to Boulder the lab confirmed it & said prognosis poor, treatment of no avail, 2-3 weeks expected to live. My friend in Ind. is the ferret resource person for the Indianapolis area & takes 4 legged people no one else wants like a cat with cancer, ferrets with seizures & places many others in new homes. She said Gerber turkey rice is the one her ferrets eat when nothing else works, so I had Timmy on that & an herbal tonic I found in Colo. on my way to Ind. The herbal tonic in water is the only thing he would consistently drink on his own. It is similar to KM or other products, this being sold by "personal wealth systems" or PWS. Dr. Susan also prescribed Pet tinic liquid vitamins 1/2cc 2x day, and Deliver 2.0 (which replaced isocal HCN) 6cc 3xday. By the time I got to Boulder to see Dr. McCluggage at the All Pets clinic there he said the lymphoma was 85% GONE! Dr. McCluggage does Chinese herbs, homeopathy, and acupuncture on 4 legged people! His name was given to me by Dr. Nye, Susan's' partner. He also added CoQ-10, the same people take, 30mg caps., 1/10 2xday, and immuplex 4960 by Standard Process inc., 1/2 cap 2xday. This product I've found at a local health store also. I've read the posts about the Duck soup and found I can add KMR (kitten milk replacement) without him protesting taste wise. He did not take to Nutramigen or Prestimil, both baby formulas from the grocery store. So here is the recipe that has evolve for my Timmy that may help some of you who have sick little people. He would take some from a dish or spoon but the most seem to get in him by offering via a 20-35cc syringe with no needle, of course. I think maybe it stimulates a nursing reflex so he will eat some 5 to 20cc at a sitting, 3 or 4 times a day. I have available for his free taking, water with a table spoon of clover honey and the PWS herbal formula that has some 28 herbs and fruit extracts. I will post the ingredients if anyone wants to know. Dr. Susan was familiar with 3/4 of them & said she was moving into that area as the AMA type medicine even for the vets had nothing good to offer for many cancers. In short I am applying some 2000 hours of research I did when my brother had leukemia. He had the AMA belief model though, and it poisoned him to death in 1989. Timmy does not have that handicap so he's doing much better. Timmys' "super food": 1- 4oz jar Gerber Turkey rice, or chicken vegetable 1 Tbl. clover honey 1/3rd can of Deliver 2.0 (any pharmacy can order), you can freeze remainder of can in tupperware containers. [This can decrease if he gains too much weight later] 7cc PWS 2000 herbal tonic [used to be called Chei Shei], (E-mail or phone me for source; Important part of recipe) 1 scoops KMR, kitten milk replacement powder (pet supply store) The contents of 2 caps of Immuplex 4960, Standard Process co., Palmyra,Wi. 53156 About 40% of a 30mg. CoQ-10 cap 1 Tsp. Ferretone 1cc pet tinic vitamins (vet or pet supply) 1/8 tsp. Schiffs Liverall powder (Health food store) 1 tsp. Lewis Labs Brewers Yeast (Health food store) Feed 20-40cc 2-4x day or what ever he will eat. When his chin gets wet we have to pause to wipe it dry, he likes to be neat! Afterwards he rubs & stretches on the carpet & seems to feel much better. He still sleeps more than the others, but he seems alert & in no pain, sleeping peacefully, so I'm glad he's here with me. The rest of the batch my other guys finish eagerly. I hope to perhaps visit Dr. Brown later this year with him mostly or fully recovered. It would be a mile stone in treatment for our little friends & family. One thing that really helped is my friend Mason in Ind. repeatedly telling me to be aggressive in positive treatment with Timmy. Not just grieve, thinking there's nothing we can do to help! It may sound weird, but talking to them & telling them you love them & am glad they're alive really does help give them something to live for. It's just like us 2 legged people, we need something & someone to live for. I've gone thru some bad periods of chronic fatigue & depression & these little guys at times have made a difference for me also. "We're all in this together". Peace, love & ferret kisses, Gary Update 3/20/95 Timmy is now eating Whiskas Kit Nips, which has 5 animal proteins, & is helping keep his teeth clean. His energy has improved, as he's now playing with the others, something he had not done in over 4 months! : IT IS THE ONLY DRY FOOD TIMMY IS EATING! It has: Wheat flour, liver, soy flour, chicken by products, beef, chicken, fish, carob powder, natural flavors, spray-dried blood, salt, guar gum, taurine, vit.e., Vit.d3, Vit.B1, Vit.B2, vit.B6, biotin. Protein 25%, fat 4.0 (low), fiber 3%, moisture 12%. The protein blend seems good as it has 5 sources of animal protein, but as the fat is low & he isn't eating other stuff like the totally ferret I have available, he will continue to get the superfood, as will the others who seem to want it Gary [log in to unmask] >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Timmy & friends' maintenance food recipe (Supplement to regular dry food & treats) a/o 8/23/95 The following recipe is for 8 ferrets, can be refrigerated or use smaller amounts proportionally. 4 jars Gerber Turkey Rice 2nds baby food 2 tsp. Ferratone 1 heaping tsp. Lewis Labs Brewers yeast 1 tsp. powdered garlic (NOT garlic salt!) 2 scoops KMR (kitten milk replacement) 2-4 Tbl. pure water 8 cc Pet Tinic liquid vitamins 1 30mg CoQ10 capsule (contents only) 4 tsp. clover honey 800-1000 mg. Vitamin. C powder 1 cc Colloidal Silver (270ppm) available from Silver Wings, 800-952-4787 (not used as a therapeutic dose, but to countermand the fact that the Gerber product is not organic or of highest possible quality, but more cost effective substitute. Additions: A) If ferret is skinny, and / or not eating well, Deliver 2.0 high calorie supplement (Mead Johnson=mfg.) from any pharmacy would be added to approx. 30% of recipe by volume. (Not a critical ratio.) B) If ill, would add 7-10cc per ferret per jar of baby food of PWS 2000 herbal supplement, and provide water with clover honey & PWS at ratio of 1/2 C. water, 1 Tbl. clover honey, and 10cc herbal tonic. (I can provide purchase info.) C) If ill would also use colloidal silver as natural anti biotic & immune system booster. Depending on condition, have used .2cc up to 2cc/ferret /day in divided doses. D) If ill, I would add 1/2 capsule 2x/ day /ferret of Immuplex 4960 by Standard Process Co. that Dr. McCluggage of Boulder prescribed for Timmy. This might not be absolutely critical as Timmy was 85% healed by the time he got to Boulder, but he also said that the last 15% of the lymphoma was most important to get rid of, as if he slipped backwards, it would be much harder to beat the second time. I also found it available at a good health food store here in Scottsdale. E) I have been doing for almost 3 weeks now, treatment of enlarged spleens on four of my little ones with colloidal silver, .3cc to 2cc/ferret/day depending on magnitude of enlargement. Wanted to not report too soon, but have found a general across the board a shrinking to about 1/2 of original size b4 treatment! Still early, and by the grace of God & the previous work of Stephene in Colorado these are encouraging results, but this is offered as research information, not a guarantee or "medical advice"; Consult your favorite health practitioner as appropriate, etc. [Timmy is still eating the Kit Nips ONLY as his dry food choice, though Turkey Pro Plan, Precise Feline, Totally Ferret & Natures' Recipe Feline Mtce. are available.] Having said all that, I am very thankful that I'm having such positive results with something that I have not heard of any treatment for except surgery. I am speculating the mechanism of action is to help kill off defective and invading cells much earlier in the immune response cycle so the total of dead cells the spleen has to filter out is vastly reduced. I do not have the equipment, budget, nor desire to subject my fuzzies to the drawing of blood, etc. necessary to "prove" a scientific methodology, but am content to simply get positive results that should result in longer, healthier lives. Their energy levels are up overall, and Timmy (who last Oct. was diagnosed with terminal lymphoma, & 2-3 weeks to live, for the newcomers), currently is the last to want to go to sleep in some nice quite corner! :) :) :) [much happiness being expressed!] Keep well, & God bless, Gary [log in to unmask] [log in to unmask] 800-209-1071 [Posted in FML issue 1294]
