I have been reading the many postings on hair loss and adrenal disease on the FML over the past several months, but didn't pay close attention until recently when Reno, my 6-1/2 year old neutered male started to experience hair loss on his tummy. He has always had a lush coat, so I am worried. My FFZ DVM has no experience in testing fuzzies for adrenal gland disease and I wanted to get some advice. She has tested canines for ACTH (?) levels, but is unsure of the proceedure and levels of concern for ferrets. His medical history has included a spleenectomy and and a cancerous growth that resulted in the loss of onn of the pads on his hind paw. I was hoping one of the resident DVM's or soon-to-be-DVM's could give us some advice. Reno is a senior ferret and has spent years on Mazurika Ferret Chow, supplemented by ferretone and cod liver oil. I would like to also like to ask advice on diets for our older fuzzy friends. Thanks, Chuck, Reno & Jesse "The day they take away my ferrets is the day they pry them from my cold, dead, fingers!"
