Proglycem - I've been very pleased with the results of Proglycem. It takes awhile to stabilize the ferret but it really made a big improvement in Whitneys case. No seizures when used along with Prelone. It is expensive, but in my view, worth every penny. Ferrets Unmasked - You can order FU (tee hee) from FFS for 24.95. Humans don't train ferrets to use the litter box, we train them to clean up after us. I don't like using the litter box and I get away with it because when I was 9 months old I was very sick and almost died so tle babies me wonderfully. I will go right in front of the litter box just to prove who's boss. Some ferrets don't like the feel or smell of different litters and some are like me, stubborn. In our new home we trained tle to use newspaper in the boxes but once they get dirty we don't like using them so she lays newspapers down around the boxes and vinyl carpet runners. Capri is worse than me - she will look right at the humans and then poop in the middle of the room. When she does this, tle yells real loud and stamps her feet which causes Capri to run and hide under the tv stand then peek out but when she peeks out, tle grabs her and sticks her in the litter box. Doesn't work though cause she keeps doing it. There are many in our group that use the litter boxes and a few that don't. The ones that aren't trained well are other peoples ferrets (except for me) and their litter boxes weren't cleaned properly so they wouldn't use them. The humans taught them that. And we need lots of litter boxes! When the urge strikes.... Some of us go in the human bathroom too. If you ever come visit us and see newspapers on the floor, they're there for a good reason, cause that's how we trained tle. [Posted in FML issue 1265]
