While in an airport recently I did not fly Delta (but instead the ferret unfriendly American Airlines), but I stopped by the Delta desk and obtained the following information. The person at the desk did not know whether *two* small pets in one reasonably sized kennel would be acceptable, which is an issue for me. I think someone said that smell could be an issue, so I think a bath before taking the pet planeward might be in order to appease our non-ferret owning friends with sensitive noses. From the Delta Airlines computers (case originally all upper, verbatim): 04514-pets in cabin acceptance page 02 ------------------------------------------------------------------- general conditions for acceptance ------------------------------------------------------------------- Delta permits small..warm-blooded..domesticated pets dog/cat/rabbit/bird/ferret/hamster/guinea pigin aircraft cabin provided that the household pet is at least 8 weeks old. note: snakes..pot-bellied pigs..iguanas are not accepted - is housed in a suitable carry on kennel that will fit underneath the seat exception: intl aircraft in first class..kennel will not fit under seat. flt attendant will assist psgr in locating space for pet during take-off and landing note: extra seat may *not* be purchased for pet in cabin. must remain in kennel under seat at all times. - remains inside its kennel with the entrance gate secured while in the boarding area..in a delta airport lounge facility..during boarding and deplaning..and at all times while onboard aircraft [Posted in FML issue 1250]
