Here ya' go. Jodi :) ================================================= Subj: KSU Rabies Shed Period Study Date: 95-06-02 11:55:16 EDT From: FShimbo Posted on: America Online FROM THE FURO Inc. INFO SERVICES OFFICE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Good news for ferret owners everywhere! The first phase of the Ferret Rabies Shed Study initiated at Kansas State University has been completed. Mr. Mike Neitzgota will present data on the shedding time of the midwestern skunk strain of rabies in ferrets at the U.S. Animal Health Assn. Committee on Rabies meeting in Reno, Nevada on October 30, 1995. The data is part of Mr. Neitzgoda's master's degree research. Visitors are welcome to sit in on this meeting. Please contact me for more information so a larger room can be arranged if needed. This study was funded in large part by donations from ferret owners, the Morris Animal Foundation, Rhone Merieux and Intervet. The MAF was extremely impressed by the thoroughness of the study (due in large part to the efforts of the Centers for Disease Control), and encouraged Kansas State University to seek additional funding from the MAF for the raccoon strain of rabies. FURO would like to warmly thank and congratulate Dr. Deborah Briggs for getting the study underway, arranging the funding, keeping things going and all the myriad other things which must be done in an effort of this kind. Please keep in mind how much private contributions have meant to this study, and please keep contributing! Fara M. Shimbo FURO Info Services Office [log in to unmask] P.O.
