Last night my fiance and I took our 2 ferrets out for a walk to the video rental store to return a couple of tapes. This was the 1st time the fuzzies have ever been out at night, and one of the few times they have walked on the sidewalk. (I prefer them to be in nice soft clean grass at a park or on the Capitol Square) They thought it was Really Cool! They ran, they dooked, they found bits of A.B.C. gum and dirt and, joy of joys - a soda can w/ a few drops of soda still in it! Wow! (Me:"Ahhh! Get out of that! Don't touch that! Just keep moving! LEAVE THE GUM ALONE!") Then we went past the fire station. One of the garage doors was open, and Hodge was struck dumb (or whatever). He just stood there, gazing in, with an awed look on his face. Then a firetruck came along to go into the garage, and Hodge and Portnoy spent the first few seconds falling over each other to look, and then both stood still, gazing, facinated, w/ the big red shiny thing. David and I were bent over double laughing. It's things like this that the Humane Society and Fish&Game need to see - how ferrets are such intelligent, funny, wonderful companions. And therapeutic too:I suffer from severe depression, but the ferrets are better than medication. Just spending a few minutes w/ them and I'm laughing out loud. :) *** *** ***** ***** **ferrets** ******* *** * Carol-Anne, HodgePodge & Portnoy [Posted in FML issue 1240]
