[Andrea Miralia was interested in developing and handing out ferret care literature at pet stores] I've been handing out copies of the mini-FAQ at the two pet stores in the Colorado Springs area. One of the stores takes better care of the ferrets than the other and, not surprisingly, is more interested in handing out copies with all the ferrets that they sell. Usually, I just stand around supervising a kit as it climbs me or sleeps in my arms or scoots around. People walk by and say "Look, a ferret!" or "What's that?" If the conversation lasts for more than a few minutes, or they sound like a potential buyer, I offer them a copy of the mini-FAQ and my phone number. Last week, one of the store workers asked about the mini-FAQ and I offered her my 3 remaining copies to hand out. She thought that was really great and when I left a couple of the store employees were eagerly reading them. I'm not really sure where to officially get the mini-FAQ: I got a postscript version of mine via private email to Pam Greene. I imagine that she will pipe up if there's a more recent version than mine. (Unfortunately, there's no version number or date in the text, but my copy of the postscript file is dated April 11.) So far, the only thing I'd change about the mini-FAQ is to add some way of getting copies for people who aren't on the net (which seems to be most people in the mall). Andrea might be right that the less technical the better, but so far, I've had good results with the mini-FAQ. Cheers, Dennis [Posted in FML issue 1204]
