to: Carla Almaraz <> Carla, I had a ferret that had Megaesophogus a few years ago. When you did the barrium, did the throat/larnax (sp?) look larger than normal to the vet? Rosco finally had to be put down because we could not keep him fed. It helps to hold the ferret's fron elevated so the food goes down slowly. Megaesophogus is when the throat is enlarged and the muscels will not contract to help with swallowing. I have heard of a few cases of it out here, and Dr. Williams has probably seen all of them at his end (I know he saw Rosco). good luck if this is it.
