In 1994, 15 ferrets were tested for rabies in Kansas. All negative. That's 15 more lives lost for naught. The total # ferrets tested in Kansas is 176. If anyone else has statistics for their state please e-mail them to me or if you have copies of stats on State PH letterhead please mail a copy to: FFS, PO Box 186, Manhattan KS 66502. The number tested and found negative may help in setting quarantines for our beloved ferrets (Example: 100,000 tested/14 positive may have a positive affect on Public Health State and/or County Officials). Don't hold your breath for the shedding studies. Hugs. tle [Posted in FML issue 1147]
