Re: affectionate ferrets So far, I've been only blessed once with a highly affectionate ferret -- our black-eyed white Sidney. This little bugger has been sleeping in Mom's lap since the day he came home with us. The very first night, when we wanted to go to bed and put him in his cage, he squawked so much we had to stay up with him as he fell asleep in our laps. Ever since then, he's been the most genuinely affectionate, yet playful, ferret we've ever seen. He actively searches me out to sleep (god forbid I have to go to the bathroom or anything) on my lap. When we got baby Max, who at 10 months isn't a baby anymore, we treated him the same way as Sid and he's the most obnoxious SOB you can imagine. ;) We're not sure if it's bloodline or not, but we're willing to find out. Sidney's sister may or may not be expecting by mid-April, and if she does produce, we're taking one (Sylvie, Sidney's sister, is just as affectionate as him) and we'll see what happens. Oh, btw, the President and Founder of FWA (Ferret Wenches of America), Claudia Seyler, wants to get in on this union deal. She's also told me she's welcoming any new jills into FWA, provided that they: Sneakily hide their food, refusing to eat in front of anyone at any time Are extremely cute, and yet make Mom curse several times a day Steal treats regularly from siblings, even though one is being presented to the ferret in question Try to poop outside the litter pan when Mom's not watching Nip Mom & Dad's feet on a regular basis, provided you've tricked them with licking first Sleep in the least accessible place possible, especially one where furniture has to be moved And finally, make sure every *single* toy you like is appropriately hidden, or you may rip it out of a sibling's mouth Interested jills please email Claudia at [log in to unmask] Amy & Dave (and their gaggle of giggling ferrets) [Posted in FML issue 1141]
