Hi all, just wanted to share some silliness from the vermont ferrets who have finally decided that Spring is really here! Besides hijacking Police cars (btw, his name was Wolfgang, and he too had discovered the dryer hose vent exit!) You should see Silk! She has gotten much more grey/silver (she is a silver mit, who was very white all winter), and now has a white triangle on top of her head, which narrows between her ears, and when she wakes up, she rubs this straight up and it looks like she has a white mohawk in the middle of all of this silver! Quite silly! :) Both of mine are getting slimmer and shedding like mad, so they are convinced that spring is here! I took them out for a walk on Sun. and we went down to the river, where they both had the best time digging in the mud in the side of the bank...the only problem was when Weehawk slipped and fell in one of the little side stream's, he came charging out of the water, totally soaked, and immediately ran up my leg and dived into the ferret bag I was carrying, which happens to have a towel in it. The bag then had convulsions as this wet, very annoyed ferret dried himself off on the towel. After he was sufficiently dried (or at least got sick of wiggling) he stuck his face out of the bag, and all of my friends almost died of laughter cause he really did look like he was accusing me of having dunked him, he popped out of the bag and looked me square in the face, as if to say "was that really necessary?!" He then got out of the bag and started jumping and leaping all around me, either challenging me to a duel, or just expressing his displeasure, I am not sure which!!! Silk on the other hand was industriously digging in the mud this whole time, and even walked all the way home so as not to get me all muddy (weehawk of course snuck inside my jacket and covered me in mud!) What still amazes me is how little mud they actually get on themselves after being completely immersed in the stuff! I felt sooo sorry for the owner of Toon!!! I too have taken my guys to the park and for ice cream, and left them in the car with all of the windows open, I will be much much more cautious about this from now on! Also, thanks so much to those who have sent me sources on ferret survival in the wild, you have all had great ideas as to where to look for info. And it is getting harder and harder to hide the ferret union ideas from my guys, I can see the idea of a walk out strike is in the works! Help!!! Also to Rick Lemker, I am truly amazed that you survived the dash to save your ferret from the dryer!!! A truly heroic run, obviously worth it, but my god!! I will definitely save your note as proof for how dedicated we all are to our ferrets! And last, sorry this is so long!!! Hope everyone elses ferrets are enjoying Spring! Especially in areas where you aren't still expecting snow any day! :) Krystal "this is my coat, and I am not washing it one more time this week!" Weehawk & Silk "is she talking to us? and just look, she lost all of her mud again, we're just gonna hafta collect some more for her!" [Posted in FML issue 1141]
