It's been a couple of years since the last Ferret Frolic for the Food bank was held, and I wonder if there is anyone out there running any kind of organized ferret association. If there is - please drop me a line at [log in to unmask] If there isn't, would anyone out there like to get together? I don't have the time to organize a group on my own, but I would be willing to co-chair/assist anyone brave enough to take on the task! After the loss of my last baby (she was 4) last week to a suspected spinal tumour and/or lymphosarcoma, "MoJo" (I didn't name her-her dad did), I adopted two two-year-olds (Onyx and Nareese) and forgot how the "Terrible Twos" were! =: ) What a riot! We are having fun (just a bit untrained in the nibbling area!) during our "get acquainted" period. We loved the description of them as carpet/shower sharks. We were calling them hairy sausages and bed tunnellers (MoJo used to chew our ankles at 2am), but I think carpet shark is an accurate title befitting the little ones. TO JUMPING FERRET: I had a little one with the same goal in life, she would fly off the back of the rocker at anyone who might let her out of the living room (we had the doorway boarded off with a 2.5 foot plank). TO FOOD: I have fed Iams to my ferrets and cats beginning when I started to work part-time for the Iams company several years ago. Originally I was feeding Science Diet on the recommendation of my vet, and after two years, the ferrets wouldn't touch it (I had 5 then). So I had to try another food - off we went to NutroMax. They loved that, but my kitties' coats weren't very nice. When I switched to Iams it took about three months, but the kitties coats were much silkier, and they all ate much less = less litterbox cleanup!=: )) We don't have Totally Ferret in Calgary, and none of the ferret diets available here were recommended by my vets. Sorry for the long msg. but there's just not enough time! Monica and the Wild Kingdom Onyx & Nareese (the terrible two) Evinrude & Stryder (the kitties) [Posted in FML issue 1095]
