To Eric Schwartz and Hershey:
Not being a vet, of course I encourage you to go to the vet: you
might consider doing a blood test, if the vet advises.
If your baby-sitter gave too much linatone, you might cut back on
that stuff. More than one ferret has hyper-vitamized on linatone. (Keep
it to two or three drops a day.) More than about two raisins can give
diarrhea, so you might want to find a high calorie supplement which
doesn't contain a lot of vitamins. We use Nutrical (some vets have it
cheaper than pet shops), which messes a little with the digestion but
which is an excellent substitute for "real food" when the ferrets stop
eating to keep them from wasting away.
Somebody might consider posting the Duck Soup recipe for Hershy's
benefit. This stuff is great, as I recall, for ferrets off their feed
for one reason or another.
It's possible Hershey just missed you: ours have scared us a
couple of times by just going off their feed for a week or so with no
apparent reason. It worried me at first, and I still go to the vet, but
they always come back fine. (Winston once broke a week-long fast in the
vets waiting room, just to make me look silly.)
