i don't know if this will help anyone,  but........
 
years ago,  about 18,  when i got my first ferret,  arabella,  they (at the
pet store)  gave me a wildlife permit number to own a ferret.  this was in
missouri.  i don't know when they quit this practice,  but they have.  there
were quite a few years between that purchase and the next.
