Hi! This morning I went to a House committee meeting here in Lansing, Michigan for the Ferret Bill 4495. I'm very pleased to say that it is being sent to the Floor (House of Representatives) now to be voted on. If it passes, it gets sent to the Senate, and then if it passes there, on to the Governor. Public Health was pretty nasty and tried their hardest to keep the bill from going to the Floor. Fortunately, they had a severe lack of statistics to substantiate their ridiculous statements. I think there were people representing the DNR, Agriculture, and the Humane Society there in support of passing the Ferret Bill. A House Representative even commented on how he didn't think that Public Health in 47 states which have all legalized ferrets could all be wrong, especially when there aren't any major complaints or problems in those other states. I'll try to keep you updated on this issue. One other comment. A while back a friend of mine called me up with a litter training problem. The ferret would sleep in the litter box and then poop on the floor. I'm sure there is a solution, but I was more concerned about the root of the problem. Have you ever noticed how many pet shops have only litter boxes in the cages the ferrets are in? When you sleep, eat, and poop in your toilet, there are bound to be toilet training problems for the human parents at home. Besides, those babies can't be comfortable sleeping in their litter. The pet shops tell me they are afraid the ferrets will chew and choke on blankets or towels, but there must be something more comfortable and safe that they can sleep on.ut there must be something more comfortable and safe for the ferrets to sleep on.there must be something more comfortable and safe for the ferrets to sleep on.
