Hi folks,

One group who is against ferret ownership, to our dismay, is PETA - People
For the Ethical Treatment of Animals. We found this out when we asked someone
at an anti-fur rally if they thought it would be a good idea to bring our
ferret to the next one, as a compelling example of what those mink pelts look
like when they are alive - but they told us that PETA's against ferrets as pets
because they "belong in the wild." I explained that they were domestic, and the
person I spoke to seemed sympathetic but thought we'd run into trouble bringing
Wednesday to a rally. The PETA newsletter has spoken out against the use of
ferrets in auto-crash experiments, but they also are against ownership. (What
are they for, extinction?) I suppose I should write them. Anyway, that's
another group to add to the list of unsympathetics... I'd love to see them
change their stance though. Does anyone know of some good quotes on ferret
domesticity that I can send them?

Thanks,
Geri, Manny, Wednesday and Roddenberry
