Hi all! Thought I'd relay a cute ferret story. I have *lots* of fishtanks, which means I do *lots* of fishtank cleaning. This involves siphoning lots of brownish/blackish/murky/generally disgusting water into buckets. Last time I did this, Sonic and Sunny became very fascinated with the stream of water and held their faces, mouths open and "threatening," in the stream. Then they got curious about that dark stuff in the bucket and proceeded to dangle over the edge, barely hanging on by the hips, and thrust their entire heads under the surface for long seconds, seeming to be looking around under the surface. Snorkeling ferrets. Wierd! Thanks to everyone who had suggestions as to Sunny's color. It seems most likely that she is a sable mitt badger stripe (also called sable mitt blaze and other similar names). I'm very curious now to see what she will look like as she grows up. She's only about three or four months old now; she was about eight weeks when I got her. Laura: I got Sunny from a Pet Depot. I went in to get food for Sonic, and of course I had to browse, and there was *Sunny*. So she came home with me that night, and Sonic made like best buds immediately! The people at the store had no idea where she came from. She was already spayed/descented when I got her, leading my vet to believe she came from a major breeder, but she has no tatoos in her ears, and he also says that most major breeders that spay/descent this early are using tatoos now. So she's of unknow origin . . . Sorry for rambling . . . -Pam, Sonic, and Sunny [Posted in FML issue 0773]
