To Georgette, When Grendel escaped for a couple of days, he was noticeably skinnier and grungier (and more cuddly) when we got him back. He's a real escape artist, I think because he used to be able to go for regular walks, but now he lives in a FFZ. We were moving more stuff into the house, so there was a chain of stuff (chair, box, cabinet, box) that he could use to climb up to a high window and dive out that. So maybe the people who own him aren't so irresponsible. We put out hundreds of posters with a $200 reward to get him back, but we still didn't have posters in the area where he eventually turned up. He went a lot further than we thought he would. We were *so* relieved to get him back--my girlfriend held him and cried for at least 5 minutes when I surprised her by bringing him to her at work. We had pretty much given up on finding him, although we were prepared to keep trying much longer. Grendel, Gilbert, Lily, Boomer, and the crazed ferret keepers [Posted in FML issue 0741]
