Hi All! To: Dan, in response to your letter on Black Eyed Whites. I have read that they are very comman in Australia and Europe, being as comman as our Sables are here, Your right though, I haven't seen to many in the Pet Shops. I have a Male Black-Eyed White (Patern) There is a difference, and I have just found out what to call him a little while ago. On AOL there are a bunch of very nice people who meet on Saterday nights to discuss Ferrets and really not much else, We Love to Ferret Chat. Any way I found out through someone in there that that is what color he is. He is qwite an Odd ball, He is almost all white, He has a few grey guard hairs on his back and rump, But has One black leg with a white foot.(And that is what is meant by PATERN) He was out of a Male Silver Sable and a female Black eyed white, who also has a few grey guard hairs, Where His black leg came from I don't know, So I decided to keep him, Named him "Zipper". As a suggestion, E-Mail me and tell me where you live, maybe I could hunt down a private Breeder, or find someone who would know of one in your area. Or Maybe ask someone in here. You said you aren't able to afford another one rate now, But as a thought, Private breeders are much cheaper then pet stores, and you can usually see where and from who your New Kit comes from, So you will have an idea of the care and quality of wich he was raised. Pet stores usually get theirs from Mass producing Ferret Ranches, Not all are bad but there are alot of concerns surrounding the Health and temperament of these mass produced Fuzzies. Check around, Take your time, Find a good breeder, Black-Eyed whites aren't that rare, Uncomman, But not Rare, Usually passed over for the Cute raccoon faced Sables, wich are Dominant Genetically. But I think you would do best in finding a breeder and buying directly from them. Hope I was of some help, if you have any other questions E-Mail me any time I would love to help, I live for Ferret stuff! :-) Michelle and The MASKeteer's. [Posted in FML issue 0693]
