I dunno. I have FML, mail, and UUCP logs that all show that a 13K issue 696 was created, mailed, and transferred off my machine as 4 separate "lumps". Three of which were routed to my internet forwarder - these three were destined to about a dozen anon users, list2mail exploders and CUNY (the main exploder). For grins, I include the logs below, with the anon users replaced with '': [The exploder route is "uunet.ca!uunet!cunyvm.cuny.edu!ferret".] FML log: Thu Jan 13 05:02:04 EST 1994 Creating article 696 Mail log: Jan 13 05:02 12378 clewis /usr/bin/uux -r - uunet.ca!rmail '' '' '' '' Jan 13 05:02 12378 clewis /usr/bin/uux -r - uunet.ca!rmail '' '' '' '(uunet!cunyvm.cuny.edu!ferret)' Jan 13 05:02 12378 clewis /usr/bin/uux -r - uunet.ca!rmail '' '' '' '' UUCP enqueue: clewis uunet.ca cN75b3 (1/13-5:02:42,11865,0) QUEUED (rmail '' '' '' '' ) clewis uunet.ca cN75b4 (1/13-5:02:57,11871,0) QUEUED (rmail '' '' '' uunet!cunyvm.cuny.edu!ferret ) clewis uunet.ca cN75b5 (1/13-5:03:10,11875,0) QUEUED (rmail '' '' '' '' ) UUCICO transfer (each mail message is two files to be transferred): clewis uunet.ca (1/13-05:40:13,11975,0) Sending D.ecicr02dc7b9 clewis uunet.ca (1/13-05:40:45,11975,0) Sending D.uunet75b35f3 clewis uunet.ca (1/13-05:40:47,11975,0) Sending D.ecicr02de258 clewis uunet.ca (1/13-05:41:16,11975,0) Sending D.uunet75b4092 clewis uunet.ca (1/13-05:41:19,11975,0) Sending D.ecicr02dfb30 clewis uunet.ca (1/13-05:41:42,11975,0) Sending D.uunet75b596a Transmission statistics: uunet.ca!clewis M (1/13-05:40:44) (C,11975,1) [tty000] -> 12378 / 30.383 secs, 407 bytes/sec uunet.ca!clewis M (1/13-05:40:46) (C,11975,2) [tty000] -> 256 / 0.299 secs, 856 bytes/sec uunet.ca!clewis M (1/13-05:41:14) (C,11975,3) [tty000] -> 12378 / 25.500 secs, 485 bytes/sec uunet.ca!clewis M (1/13-05:41:17) (C,11975,4) [tty000] -> 245 / 0.333 secs, 735 bytes/sec uunet.ca!clewis M (1/13-05:41:41) (C,11975,5) [tty000] -> 12378 / 21.383 secs, 578 bytes/sec uunet.ca!clewis M (1/13-05:41:43) (C,11975,6) [tty000] -> 257 / 0.299 secs, 859 bytes/sec The transfer rates are lousy - I get much better with everybody else. But, that's typical. Which seems to imply that either uunet.ca, uunet or cuny dropped it on the floor. I'm at a complete loss. I'll be polling the anon users that I mail to directly to see if any of them received 696 on the 13th. [Posted in FML issue 0698]
