There is trouble at home. We recently moved into a new apartment and Cleo(the ferret) and Missy(the kitten) are having to share the same space. When we first introduced them they seemed to get along okay and for the most part ignored each other except occasionally pouncing on one anothers tails. Now that we have moved the kids share the kitchen and living room and spare bedroom. Initially they were kept in separate rooms(at the old place) and had their own litter boxes and food dishes. The vet said that we might as well get them to share the same space and eat out of the same bowls etc. I am concerned that this is not too wise. Since we moved Cleo has been going outside of her litterbox-- right next to it but not in it. She and the kitten have been rough-playing(not sure if they are actually fighting) as well-- I am concerned that they will hurt one another. Has anyone had any experience with moving and getting their ferrets accustomed to a new place and new pets? Anyone have any suggestions for making friends out of Cleo and Missy. Both are very good natured and well-mannered on their own. On another note-- fleas. *sigh* When we moved in the people before us had had a cat and they said there was no problem with fleas but they would bomb anyway. Apparently they failed to do it properly because there are fleas now. I am concerned about what products to use on Cleo? What is safe for a ferret? Is commercial flea shampoo for kittens safe? Do I need to get something special from the vet? Can Cleo wear a flea collar of some kind or does flea powder or spray work better? What do I need to do to get rid of all the fleas? Many thanks, Amy, Cleo, Missy, Bump and Harvey(the bunnies) [Posted in FML issue 0553]
