From: S.THOMASON3 [Scott Thomason] 93/07/28 21:02 Sub: Texas Ferrets Bill-- One more time.... Paul Engle and Bobby Petty-- As you've seen from Rick and myself, ferrets are NOT illegal in Texas. Bobby, as to the Air Force, I'll tell you what I got from another ferret loving AF man. He's based at Tinker AFB and is living offbase. He moved offbase mainly because he was told ferrets were against regulations. In his struggle to get this corrected, he found that the Air Force itself does not ban them, but many individual bases do-- it's one of those base policy kind of things that can be altered by the base commander. Tinker now allows them onbase. However, there's a base outside DC that's very much against them (sorry, the name escapes me). Ferrets are not wild, they've been selectively bred by man and depend upon him for their survival. Can't tell some people that, though..... For both Paul and Bobby, Karen Grant, president of the Ferret Lovers Club here in D/FW (with branches elsewhere in the state), has given me permission to forward her address and phone number to you so that she can help you with ferret contacts in your area and/or send documentation to your vets on the legal status of ferrets in your area and information on vaccination, etc., to help correct some of their misconceptions.
