It is a true tragedy that the Morris foundation does not have the funding required to determine the shedding duration in ferrets. If this were determined it would save the lives of countless ferrets that are involved in even the most "minor incidents." If anyone is interested (and I certainly hope everyone here can at least donate an obligatory $1 per ferret they own!) in donating to the Morris foundation ferret research fund, the address is: Morris Animal Foundation 45 Inverness Drive East Englewood, Colorado 80112-5480 Enclose a note with your donations stating that they are to be put directly into the ferret fund, and it would be a good idea to state that you want your money to be used to determine the shedding time of rabies in ferrets. As Lenny mentioned, the ferret fund only has $17,000 in it now and a shedding study might require in upwards of $90,000 so every dollar is needed! Be sure to hound friends with ferrets to also donate, and it would be in everyone's best interest to have ferret clubs perform annual fund raisers (or biannual, etc...) to raise money to donate to the fund. Also, money donated by individuals directly to the Morris Foundation can be a tax deductible donation. Beau Bannerman [Posted in FML 0149]
