I finally got around to mucking a bit more with my mailer to try to get the "From: " address a little more sane and make a few other things nicer. You will see with this issue that: 1) The "From:" address is "[log in to unmask]". If you are on the Internet, or run pathalias, or have a mailer that forwards unknown destination mail to a site that's on the Internet or runs pathalias, a "reply" in your mail program to any mailing list issue should work just hunky in getting stuff to me. If it doesn't work under the above situations, your mailer is busted (eg: your internet facility doesn't know about the ".ca" domain) or uses the "From " line in preference to the "From:" line. If your mailer doesn't do the "right thing", you should mail to: [log in to unmask] or path-to-uunet!uunet!ferret.ocunix.on.ca!ferret-list depending on whether you're mailer is domain capable or not respectively. 2) The parenthesized part of the From: address and the Subject: line work together to make a nice simple concise display in your mailer's mail header display (eg: mush, mailx, BSD Mail or elm). 3) I got multi-cast to work better - reduces loading substantially.
